Buying a DJI Agras Spray Drone in Minnesota: 2026 Guide

Harvest is wrapping up across Minnesota, and a lot of growers and applicators are already thinking about next season. If a spray drone is on your list for 2027, this is the practical guide I'd give a neighbor: which DJI Agras model fits which operation, what it takes to fly one legally here, and why the timing matters this fall.

I'm Justin, a Part 107 pilot based in Minnetrista and the owner of MN Drone Pilot. We now carry the full DJI Agriculture line through authorized distribution, along with batteries, generators, and spreading and lifting kits.

Which Agras fits your operation?

  • DJI Agras T25P: The compact, foldable option for a single operator. A good fit for smaller farms, orchards, specialty crops, and spot spraying. It fits in a pickup and gets you started without a big crew.

  • DJI Agras T70P: The versatile middle of the lineup, with spraying, spreading, and lifting modes. A strong choice for mid to large farms and custom applicators adding capacity.

  • DJI Agras T100: DJI's largest spray and spread drone, built for big acreage and operators who want the most coverage per battery cycle.

  • DJI Mavic 3 Multispectral: Not a sprayer, but the scouting and prescription-mapping partner to the Agras line. Find the problem areas first, then treat only what needs it.

The right answer depends on your acres, your crops, whether you're spreading dry product, and how many people you have to run the operation. That's the conversation I'd rather have with you before you buy anything.

What it takes to fly one legally in Minnesota

Spray drones are real aircraft, and applying product from the air is regulated at both the federal and state level. For commercial spraying in Minnesota, plan on:

  • FAA Part 107 remote pilot certificate

  • FAA Part 137 agricultural aircraft operator certificate

  • A Section 44807 exemption for drones over 55 lbs, which covers the larger Agras models

  • A Minnesota Department of Agriculture commercial pesticide applicator license with the aerial category

  • MnDOT aircraft registration and commercial operations requirements

Requirements change, so confirm the current process with the FAA and MDA before your first job. If you're already licensed and flying, you're ahead of most buyers and can focus on adding capacity.

Can you still buy DJI in 2026?

Yes, with an important detail. In December 2025 the FCC stopped authorizing new foreign-made drone models, but models that were already authorized before that change remain legal to sell, buy, and fly. That is why buying through an authorized U.S. channel matters: you get a legal, warranty-backed unit instead of a gray-market import that may not be supported.

Own it or hire it out?

Custom drone application in Minnesota typically runs somewhere around $10 to $18 per acre depending on the crop, product, and field. Multiply your treated acres by that rate and compare it to the cost of an aircraft, batteries, and a generator. The more acres you cover each season, the faster ownership makes sense, and owning means you control your own spray timing.

Why this fall is a good time to buy

Two reasons. First, supply has been tight, so lining up a unit in the off-season beats scrambling in April. Second, equipment placed in service in 2026 may qualify for Section 179 expensing and 100% bonus depreciation. We're not tax advisors, so talk with your accountant, but if you've had a strong year it's worth asking about before December 31.

Get current pricing

Ag drone pricing is moving week to week right now, so we quote current numbers and availability directly instead of posting prices that go stale. Tell us your acres, what you're applying, and whether you need spreading or lifting, and we'll put together the right setup.

See the full lineup on our DJI Agras spray drone page, or request current pricing and tell us about your operation.
